6th Annual University Trading Challenge
This year for the first time the STA is delighted to be sponsoring the 6th Annual University Trading Challenge which is taking place on 9th December 2016 at Cass Business School. UTC is a competition for Graduate and Undergraduate students in Finance, Economics, Business and Math seeking careers in the Financial Markets. This championship has four main components: Trading Challenge, a Portfolio Challenge, a Treasury Trading Challenge and an Investment Banking Challenge giving students the opportunity to showcase their skills and trading abilities.

The Society of Technical Analysts (STA), as lead sponsor of the 2016 University Trading Challenge, is proud to offering the following as our main prizes, worth over £15,000;
First – the STA will give the 9 winning students from the top 3 overall teams unrivaled access to the STA’s City of London network of finance professionals by offering each of them a practice interview with one of ten finance professionals – a random selection of the panel shows the calibre of the interviewers;
Axel Rudolph is part of the award winning Commerzbank FICC technical analysis team (top 3 in the FX Euromoney Survey for the past 4 years and winner in 2014). He is also the current Chairman and a Fellow of the Society of Technical Analysts (STA) in Great Britain and was Vice-Chairperson Europe on the board of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA). Axel, who has a BSc (Hons) and MSc in Economics, has been using technical analysis since 1992 and has been teaching part of the STA Diploma course at the London School of Economics for the past fourteen years.
Adam Sorab, FSTA, is Head of Technical Research at CQS, a hedge fund management company based in London. Prior to joining CQS in 2004, Adam was Director of Absolute Return Strategies at Deutsche Asset Management. Adam joined Deutsche from CSFB, where he was a founding member and Director of CSFB’s hedge fund operation, the Leveraged Funds Group. Before this, Adam worked for Schroders in London as a foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives trader. He began his city career in 1984, as a money market and foreign exchange proprietary trader.
Adam holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the London School of Economics. He is a Fellow and former Chairman of the UK’s Society of Technical Analysts. He was also President of the International Federation of Technical Analysts from 2009 to 2012.
Second – the 1st Overall Team, all 3 members will receive free training and exam fees (only valid until and to be used by 31st December 2020) enabling them to become a fully qualified STA Technical Analysts assuming they pass all the exams, worth up to £3,695 each – click here for details.
Third – the 2nd Overall Team, all 3 members will receive free training and exam fees (only valid until and to be used by 31st December 2020) enabling them to take the STA Diploma Part 1 exam, worth up to £1,095 each – click here for details.
Fourth – the 3rd Overall Team, all 3 members will receive a free copy of the HSC (Home Study Course) and exam fees (only valid until and to be used by 31st December 2020) enabling them to take the STA Diploma 1 exam, worth up to £795 each – click here for details.
