Introducing our next speaker: Charlie Morris, a regular at STA monthly meetings
He’s given talks to us before, and no doubt will be doing so in the future, but before that, pencil in this date: Tuesday October 13th at 18:30 – via webinar. This is our next monthly meeting where he’ll assess how Bitcoin will fit into a multi-asset framework. I’m sure many are eagerly awaiting this presentation, entitled ‘Digital gold or a speculative growth asset’.
His career is varied and his experience in the relatively new area of digital assets strong. Starting with a four-year stint as an officer in the Grenadier Guards, he moved to HSBC’s fund management arm in 1998 – where he managed to hang on in there for seventeen years. He worked his way through the system, via the Global Trend Fund to lead manager of the Global Opportunities fund which, at its peak, had $3 billion under management.
Since 2015 he has held, as they say, a portfolio career increasingly focused on digital assets. Currently chairman and founder of Byte Tree Crypto Composite Ltd, a firm which, in their words: ‘aims to provide analytics for blockchains so that data can be collected and interpreted.’ In parallel he’s also the editor of The Fleet Street Letter, which has been running since 1938 and aims to help investors understand events (economic, political, and more) and how they may impact financial markets.
Between 2016 and 2020 he was also at two other fund management houses, Newscape Capital and Atlantic House.
Do remember that for these Zoom meetings you must sign up via email for the link and password. Trust me, it’s really easy to do.
