For some years now, Covid-permitting, an annual lunch is organised for Fellows of the STA.. This event is by invitation only and to those who have been awarded the distinction.

You ask: how many types of STA membership are there? Associate members are those with an interest in technical analysis but have no formal qualifications. Full members are those who have passed the STA’s Diploma Part 1 and Part 2 exams and may add MSTA to their professional title. Since 1986 Fellowships have been awarded to members who have either contributed to the field of technical analysis or to the development of the STA. This is separate from membership of the STA Board or any of the Committees. A very limited quota is set per annum, and some years no fellowships are granted.

Meeting at the National Liberal Club on Friday the 28th April, a venue the society has used before for gala dinners and drinks parties, the lunch was hosted by Chairman Eddie Tofpik in the club members’ dining room. A fabulous venue and I can honestly say far nicer than most London restaurants. A long table reserved for us at one end of this vast room, attentive staff were expecting us and we chose from the day’s set menu. Three choices in each section of a three course menu, with options for vegetarians and vegans, accompanied by wine and soft drinks. The food and service were excellent.

Lively conversation flowed around the table and then Eddie made a very short speech (he’s good at these!) Thanking and appreciating Fellows’ work so far.
