STA Podcast with Stephen Hoad: Ahead of the Technicals to Trading Systems Conference
Another in the series of STA podcasts conducted by Board Member Gerry Celaya, this time with Stephen Hoad, CEO of The Stop Hunter since 2015. Obviously conducted over telephonic/digital devices as Gerry lives in Aberdeenshire and Stephen in the delightfully named town of Sandwich in the Kent countryside.
Stephen has nearly 30 years’ experience in financial markets (risk and trading) and is a speaker on the 16th April 2024 at the STA’s Technicals to Trading Systems Conference, where this year’s theme is: ‘From Classic Charting to AI Development’. He has a solid grounding in the subject, his talk, ‘A step by step process for building a successful, systematic technical analysis system’ – which even he admits is rather a mouthful. With a MSc. from Loyola Marymount University in California and several years trading options at giant Koch Supply and Trading (a US private company) he also has worked at several City of London international banks.
He’s the first speaker at the conference, where he says he’s a bit wary, but excited about then listening to the other high calibre speakers. His focus will be on converting trading ideas to trading systems, ‘’idea to end result’’. His focus will be on technical analysis, especially the Renko charts where he is something of a UK-based expert. He reminds us that systematic trading [is] ‘’always a case of maintenance after the idea’’ and that he’s committed to ‘’always learning’’.
