STA Monthly Meeting – February 2020
Review of the past 50 years and outlook for the future
Robin will talk on what he used to do in his career (spanning over 53 years), how it has changed and what he is doing now. The presentation will involve a global overview for all asset classes. Robin will also include anecdotes on his sailing round the world.
STA Monthly Meeting & Christmas Party – December 2010
Staying Alive with Technical Analysis
On the night of the STA Christmas party he will give a humorous, seasonal review of Technical Analysis and it’s relevance to “Life, the Universe, and Everything.” Robin looks back on a life time in the City and will reveal all the secrets he has learned over the years, if he can remember them. Failing that we will have a jolly good Christmas party.
STA Monthly Meeting October 2007
April is the cruellest month?
Most members will be familiar with the “Road Map”, his proprietary system for codifying the interaction between the various market and economic cycles. On this occasion, he will focus one aspect of seasonality –which month is, indeed the cruellest. TS Elliot opted for April, but wasn’t known to be a technical analyst. April may prove disappointing, bearing in mind “Sell in May, and go away”, but, arguably, October should take the accolade, with 1929, 1987 and the aftermath of 9/11 being the most obvious examples.
STA Monthly Meeting June 2006
Where are we Now?
Most members will be familiar with the “Road Map”, his proprietary system for codifying the interaction between the various market and economic cycles. As a seasoned sailor, he is more qualified than most to stipulate, “Always look at the chart”. Whilst the Society has always adopted a purist attitude to performance claims in notices, his Road Map should be a much more reliable indicator of present position, direction and route in markets than some of the SatNav systems now on offer, judging by recent press comments!
