Softly spoken, Canadian educated engineer Connie (Constance) Brown CFTe MFTA spoke at our monthly meeting as part of her European tour, which includes Sweden and Switzerland. Promising a tempting array of goodies for STA members, including a free online Q&A session later this month, she outlined the complex panoply of methods she uses in her technical analysis at Aerodynamic Investments Inc.

After a successful and happy career with Eastman Kodak, she moved into hedge fund management and is now writing her investment letter- publishing 9 books along the way. As you may have guessed from the above, her scientific background means she tests her theories thoroughly and approaches her analysis in rigorously.

Obviously a true Gann fan, a number of her (obviously) regular followers were at the event, having become converts too. I, who find the method difficult to grasp (possibly because of my abject failure to master STEM subjects), realise many STA members also struggle with Gann. Therefore I was intrigued to hear from Michael Lake MSTA that it was his favourite form of technical analysis, and that he had learnt about it through Connie’s books. By the way, the STA library holds copies of her ‘Aerodynamic Trading’ and ‘Technical Analysis for the Trading Professional’ books.
So keen on Gann is she, that she tracked down an eminent lady pilot who was entrusted a leather strapped suitcase full of Astrological Bulletins written by Luther Jensen (who probably worked for Gann), and Gann’s masonic paraphernalia. in turn, the suitcase was entrusted to Connie for safe-keeping – and an invaluable research tool it is!

However, she stresses that in her research integration is the key tool. Selecting what is appropriate where and when, Fibonacci, cycles, overlays, oscillators, seasonals, grids with links to lambda musical notation – confluence is the name of the game. Talking of which, she winks and says: ‘’I like stuff my colleagues are not looking at’’.

Unsurprisingly, she cut her presentation short at one hour twenty minutes, leaving us with the intriguing thought of a ‘Hermetic Key’. I’m sure the video will provide many leads for further research for STA members to carry out.
